A Happy Ending

Button-up:  American Eagle, thrifted
Sweater:  Simply Vera by Vera Wang, thrifted
Belt:  Thrifted
Pants:  LOFT, gifted
Shoes:  Merona
Necklace:  Anatoli (gift from hubby years ago)

For those of you who thrift, do you ever buy things without trying them on at the thrift store?  Erm, I tend to not try things on and sometimes regret it  A thrifting friend (ahhh... I accidentally typed 'thrifted' friend!) of mine and I have a little saying: "Don't shed a thread for the Goodwill."  You know, it just feels ... a little shady in the Goodwill sometimes.  It's not really the kind of place in which I want to remove my clothing.

So.  This button-up is one of the many items that I've purchased without trying it on.  I brought it home, pulled it out of the bag, put it on, and ... couldn't button it.  Literally.  Couldn't button it.  I was still in the midst of losing some baby weight and really, really felt like I would be able to lose it, so I saved this shirt.  Last week, I pulled it back out to see if I can wear it now.  And, well, as you can see above, I can button it now!  I'm not entirely sure what I did right as I don't diet or exercise, but yay!

  1. I actually did try on a pair of Express jeans that I LOVE when I was at the Salvation Army a few months ago. I too was losing baby weight and had no idea what regular size would fit me. As it was, I squeezed into them, ha. But thankfully now they fit great! It did feel funny but they actually have nice dressing rooms.

    1. Yay!

I wish our Salvation Army was nicer. I would make the trek downtown if it were, but it's just not worth the time.

  2. YEA for buttonable button-ups! It looks like it fits you really well too! I know it's kinda nasty, but I do try on thrifted clothes before I buy them. I just have a hard time guessing what will fit me. I definitely play the "DON'T touch the floor" game while in the dressing room though ;)

    1. Yuck! I know what you mean. I don't touch the floor, the gum on the wall, etc....

  3. i know what you mean about goodwill... it's the reason why i don't frequently buy thrifted pants. i usually can't just guess about whether pants will fit/flatter me unless i try them on.

hey! congrats on losing baby weight!

    1. You know, that's the craziest thing that I've been lucky about -- thrifted pants. I've only bought a couple that haven't worked out (in my early thrifting days). Now, I just stick to certain brands that I know fit me.

Aw, thanks. I'm not completely there yet, but not I'm also not sure if I want to lose all the weight. I'm very comfortable with how I look now. I'm pretty 'meh' about it, which is why I'm so surprised that I can wear this shirt now!
