This week, my husband and I very excitedly walked up the stairs of our new house for the first time. The framers are still working on the studs and everything for the second floor, but it really looks like a house now. It was so exciting (although, a little nerve wracking without a banister on the stairs)! I am very excited to pick out all the fixtures and colors for the inside of the house, but lately I've been gathering inspiration for furniture.
We have a game plan already for how we're going to furnish/decorate. We'll be going one room at a time, in order of priority, to purchase new furniture and decorations, etc. The kitchen is obviously first in line. It will be easy to furnish, since we won't have a breakfast nook. It's the room where we hang out the most, so it makes sense to have the main room decorated and complete first. Next, we'll move on to the dining room, screened in porch, etc. Lately, I've been looking at living room furniture. I am very picky when it comes to living room furniture, so I definitely need to start thinking about it now. It's nice to take my time and think through all of our decisions.
I've put together a little mood board of inspiration, which helps me get all my ideas into one spot. Overall, our style is comfortable, modern farmhouse. In fact, it's hard for me to put a label on our style, because we love so many different aspects of interior decoration. I even like industrial pieces, but I'm not sure how we can work that into a modern farmhouse. :) I know that bit by bit, we'll get there. For now, this is what I'm imagining our future living room will look like. Arhaus has an amazing selection of sectional sofas, which is where I found my initial inspiration.
