Ironically, these are also items that you can pull out right after you move into a new house. Unpacking a house is a daunting task, and it can take a long time to make it feel comfortable. I know that these items are going to be some of the first things I put out in our new house. And I love that they're actually multi-functional. Yes, they all make a home feel cozy. But, you'll see that they actually serve other purposes as well.
The first thing that I'll want to do when we move is make our new home smell like our own. It will definitely smell like a new house and (probably) paint. I keep candles lit all the time when we're home. Every evening when we get home from work, I either turn on our wax warmers and/or light candles. In our rental, we've been using up all our fall/winter candles. However, I've been saving these three candles for when we move. They smell so fresh and clean, and they will be absolutely perfect for when we move in!
I have a confession to make, and that is I'm addicted to blankets. Every time I find a cozy throw or a lap blanket, I buy it. I really do not believe you can have too many blankets. My husband and I use them every evening. The kids use them all the time. :) I can just imagine us all sitting in our back porch in the evening, cozied up in our blankets!
And in case you didn't notice, I also love baskets. I can literally have baskets everywhere our house. We keep so many different things in them. The basket of books didn't make it into the pictures, and we've actually downsized from two book baskets to one. My basket addiction is a lot like my blanket addiction -- if I see one that I like, I buy it. This cute little chicken wire basket is just waiting for me to find something to store in it.
