Oh me, oh my! Where did the time go? It seems like I started this draft ages ago and never got it posted. With the holiday last week, working like a madwoman before hand so I wouldn’t come back to work with a pile of to-do’s, and decorating for Christmas, my little space on the internet was a tad neglected. However, without further ado … drum roll, please.
It’s Birchbox time!
I’ve been watching Birchbox videos on YouTube, and it seems like the general consensus is that this month’s box is not great. I felt like my box was okay — not the best, but I’m still happy about it! This month’s theme is gift-giving. Birchbox curated this box with gift-worthy products in mind. So, let’s get started! I’m going to do my Birchbox posts a little different this month. Last month, I had a str-i-i-i-ng of review posts and that just isn’t my thing. This month, I’m going to keep this one Birchbox post and come back to put my reviews on each product here. A one-stop shop for my Birchbox thoughts!
First up is LaROCCA’s Champagne and Shimmer Acai Body Polish. This is probably the most extravagant product I’ve ever used. As you see, it has champagne in it. And get this — the shimmer is 24K colloidal gold. What does colloidal gold mean? Uh, specifically, I don’t know. As far as this scrub, I think it’s just supposed to make it shimmery. I used this in the shower and really, really enjoyed the smell. It has a sweet, slightly citrus scent. Very refreshing! It exfoliated well and left my skin feeling very smooth. Would I purchase this? Maybe not for myself … but, if I ever have a close friend who is as interested in beauty items as I am, then I would give this as a gift.
Oh, Oscar Blandi. You impressed me with this one. The last Oscar Blandi product was a hair serum and it actually left my hair static-y (!!). This Jasmine Protein Mist is lovely. This is a restyling mist that helps to strengthen your tresses before you restyle it (or style it, in my case). You can also spray it on damp hair to detangle and fortify. I’ve used it on my damp hair before straightening it, and I noticed that my hair stayed styled all day long. My hair was also smoother and didn’t get frizzy as the day went on. Birchbox has finally impressed me in the hair department! I would definitely purchase this for myself.
The makeup item that I received in this box was from Zoya’s Holiday Gems & Jewels collection. They sent me Noel, which is a shimmery dark denim color. I love this! In fact, I wore this last week and will be my NOTD post for this week (ha, maybe I should retitle it NOTW?). Love, love, love it. I would buy this polish for myself and for my friends!
I also received a makeup remover! From France! Bien soir! Merci! Tout suite! Thus the ends the extent of my French vocabulary left over from high school. Oh, wait …. and visage! That’s one word I always got confused — it looks like ‘vision’ so I always thought it meant eyes, but it’s actually face. Weird.
Anyways! So, this kind of visage makeup remover is awesome. It’s from Klorane, a brand of which I’ve never heard. It removed all my eyeshadow and concealer and water proof eyeliner/mascara with a swipe of my cotton ball. Okay, maybe a couple swipes. I think I’ve been spoiled by makeup removing wipes, because the cotton balls felt so rough. Cotton balls aside, this makeup remover was very nice. It didn’t make my skin oily and it didn’t bother my sensitive, contact-lense-sporting eyeballs. Win win.
Um. Yum. Go buy this right now. It is Chuao Chocolatier’s Choco Pod Firecracker and it is amazing. Dark chocolate + chipotle + salt + popping candy = YES!! It was very tasty. Even if you don’t like dark chocolate, you will like this! (And they have other flavors — like potatoe chips and chocolate. How cool is that?)
Birchbox had a bonus gift in some of the boxes! This is a Baublebar Blackwood Pop Bracelet. I was ecstatic when I saw that I got a bonus!! I’ve admired the Baublebar bracelets on Birchbox’s website before. A while ago, they had a special where if you spent $XX, you would get one of these free. Well, I didn’t want to spend $XX at the time, but wanted a Baublebar Bracelet. But, now I got one for kind-of free.
Voila!
(oh, wait, is that French, too?)
