This month’s Birchbox is all about clarity. They included products that will start 2012 with a fresh face and optimistic mood. I’m going to work from least favorite to most favorite product.
I am so sad that the bonus was my least favorite. I love Larabars. LOVE. But, cherry pie is not my favorite. I have never liked cherry anything, so I knew this just wasn’t going to cut it for me. Give me anything but cherry! Kudos to Birchbox for including them, though. They are one of my favorite snack bars.
This is Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy perfume. They get points for using the spray style of perfume sample bottle! Don’t you hate those little ones that you have to pull the caps off of? I am so nervous that I’ll spill the perfume everywhere when I open it.
This perfume smells so good. It’s a sweet and fruity scent, not usually my favorite thing, but I can take it in small doses. I don’t wear a lot of perfume, so in a weird way I’m glad that I got a sample. My husband and I are both sensitive to strong smells. It’s definitely not worth my money to buy a large bottle of perfume that I’ll use once in a while. That being said, I have quite a large collection of perfume samples that I use.
Oh, this product is such a favorite at the moment. This is BORGHESE’s Curaforte Moisture Intensifier. It moisturizes dry skin (which I don’t have…. kind of strange I was sent this when I don’t have dry skin), but it also helps other products sink more deeply into the skin so the active ingredients will work more effectively.
So, here’s the thing. Like I said, I do not have dry skin. In fact, the moisturizer that I use every day is Oil Control Lotion. I had very low hopes for this product, but I have been using this every morning since I got it and my skin has looked so clear! Normally, by lunch time, I have to powder my face a little bit to cover up the oil in my t-zone, but I haven’t had to do that. My face actually feels less oily when I’m wearing this! Either it’s blocking all the oil and my face is about to erupt into some major volcanoes, or it actually makes my oil control lotion work better. Either way, I’m amazed that it’s worked.
This product and the next are tied as my favorites from this box. This is Jouer’s Body Butter and it smells divine. The moisturizing ingredients are shea butter, jojoba, and coconut oil (hello, moisture!). The smell good ingredients are gardenia, jasmine, and honeysuckle. Those are some of my favorite scents. This is a winner for me and my dry hands!
My other most favorite product from this month is the Stile Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner. I received the color Peacock (the color of the package). I’m not entirely sure, but it seems like this a full size liner! It is the same size as the other eyeliners that I own. I am very impressed with this product. In order to test its staying power, I have worn this with and without an eye primer underneath. It didn’t smudge or transfer at all during the day both ways. The day that I wore it without primer, it looked fresh all day long. This ranks right up there with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner and Clinique’s Quickliner, for me.
Overall, I had a good box this month. I am very pleased with what I received, and especially since I received a full size liner!
