It’s been so long since I’ve done a Birchbox unboxing! You probably already know what Birchbox is, but in case you don’t you can learn more here. Basically, it’s a makeup sample subscription service. Every month, you receive 4-5 deluxe samples of high-end beauty and/or life style products. I’ve received quite a few full-sized items, so it definitely pays for itself. So, here we go…
This month’s theme is All Wrapped Up, which I’d say is appropriate for the holiday season.
The first item I saw in my box was Benefit’s it’s potent! eye cream. I’m always up for trying a new eye cream, so this will be exciting. This particular cream contains peptides, which are supposed to be really good for brightening the under eye area and lightening dark circles. We’ll see what it does! The size of the sample is enough to last quite a long time, so I feel like it will give me a good idea if this product works for me.
The next item is a ModelCo SHINE Ultra Lip Gloss in none other than … Strip Tease. Yes, you read that right. The color of this lip gloss is Strip Tease. This lip gloss has two redeeming factors and those are the fact that it smells so good I want to eat it, and there is a mirror on the side of the packaging. Oh, and it’s not sticky.* The color doesn’t show up on my lips, but it’s a nice, peachy, shiny glow to my lips. This is definitely the kind of color that you can wear with anything.
I also received two packets of Kérastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique – Protect. This is a “leave-in” product that you apply to towel-dried hair. It goes mainly on the ends, and it protects your hair from heat styling and chemical processes. This will be interesting to try. I tend to fry the ends of my hair with my straight iron, so maybe this will help them!
The “little extra” that I got was an Emily’s Chocolates Chocolate Covered Fortune Cookie. I hope this is delicious! I’m going to save it for when I’m having a good cup of coffee and will definitely post a pic of my fortune on Instagram. 🙂 The flavor of this one is Dark Chocolate Peppermint. Yum!
The last item in my box is a sample of Juicy Couture’s Juicy Couture. This smells really nice. I was apprehensive about getting another Juicy Couture scent, because I am not a huge fan of Viva La Juicy. This one is much lighter and more floral, so I love it! If my husband and I weren’t so sensitive to perfume smells, perfumes would be a higher priority for me. So, samples are perfect for me, since I don’t use it all the time.
There you have it! My December 2012 Birchbox was nice. I’m happy with everything. If I were to rate them by how exciting I am with the first item being the most, it would be: Benefit’s eye cream, Emily’s Fortune Cookie, the Kérastase protectant, and then the perfume.
Do you subscribe to Birchbox? If you do, what did you get this month?
*I’ve actually come to realize that sticky lip gloss is not all that bad. Here are my thoughts: when lip gloss is slick, I rub my lips together more often. Thus, the lip gloss does not last very long. If it’s sticky, I hate the feeling of it and don’t rub my lips together. Sticky lip gloss lasts nearly half a day on me!
