Last week, I shared with you my summer nail polish picks. Today, I’m bringing you my favorite blushes for the warmer months! I used to be afraid of blush. It can be intimidating! It was difficult to figure out where blush looks best on me, so I just never got brave enough to try until I got a Clinique blush sample in a gift with a purchase. After that, it was over! I’ve become much more adventurous with color and feel confident when I wear it.
These are some blushes that I’ll be reaching for more this summer.
Sonia Kashuk Creme Blush in Blossom, $9.79
This was my first foray into cream blushes. The formulation is soft and creamy, and the color is slightly stronger on the skin than it looks in the pan. I use a Real Techniques Stippling Brush, because it gives the softest effect. I’ve also used my fingers, but it looks best with the stippling brush. Eventually, I will buy some of the other colors in this formulation, because I love it so much.
Stila Convertible Color in Peony, $25
This is another cream product. Stila’s convertible colors can be used on your lips and cheeks. I have yet to use this on my lips, because the formulation is a little sticky for my taste (see what I did there?). It’s gorgeous on the cheeks, though! I also use the Real Techniques stippling brush with this one. The color is a little deeper than the Sonia Kashuk one, but it’s still fresh and pretty for the summer. I don’t consider this an everyday blush, but I use it when I want something deeper on my cheeks.
E.L.F. Studio Blush in Tickled Pink, $3
Can you beat a $3 makeup product? Probably not. Oh, wait! E.L.F. has $1 products, too. . . . I guess that beats the $3 ones!
Anyways, this color is supposedly the dupe for NARS Orgasm. I don’t own that blush, so I can’t compare it. If this is a dupe, though, I won’t ever buy the NARS one. This blush is gorgeous. It is a gorgeous peachy pink with a bit of shimmer running through it. Don’t worry! The shimmer isn’t super obvious on your cheeks. It gives the cheeks a beautiful highlight-y sheen. The shade is perfect and fresh for summer. I love it! I actually used it nearly all the month of May. I suppose it should’ve been in my monthly favorites.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Splendor, $26
Now, I said “don’t worry” about the E.L.F. Tickled Pink’s shimmer, but I can’t say the same for this one! This blush is one of Tarte’s long-wearing blushes. This shade is a bright pink with gold shimmer. The shimmer does transfer to the cheeks, but I’ve found that a little goes a long way with this blush. And it lasts forever! I don’t think I can claim to 12 hours of wear, but when if I wear this to work it’s still on my cheeks at the end of the day. This is another one of those special blushes that I would never wear every day, but instead would save it for special occasions. I love this bright color for summer!
Neutrogena Sheer Highlighting Blush in Pure, $11
Can you tell I love highlight-y blushes? I’m borderline obsessed with highlighting my face and cheek bones. I don’t like to literally glow (har har har), but I do like to look like my skin is fresh and glowy. This is the ultimate everyday, fresh, natural blush. It’s the lightest of the five, and it will be the blush I grab when I don’t want to think too hard about what I’m wearing. That’s not every day, but still! We all have those mornings when you don’t feel like trying too hard, but don’t want to look like you aren’t trying.
Are you a blush wearer? For the longest time I wasn’t, but now I have a decent collection of different colors! Tell me what your favorite blush is!
