Today’s Makeup Monday has been a long time coming. I’ve had these lip products for over 3 months and have seriously put them to the test. I watched a lot of reviews when they came out and found all of them to be similar to my own opinion. These are the Revlon Colorburst Matte & Lacquer Balms. These are chubby-stick-style lip products that come in two different finishes, matte & shiny.
I purchased three of each formulation. I don’t know why I have a thing with buying ‘threes’ of lip products, but I do. Here are the lacquer balms I bought.
These are some of my favorite colors, but I don’t like this formula. The pigmentation is amazing and the texture is smooth and creamy. They glide on your lips and don’t accentuate any dryness that might be on them. They don’t last all day (only about 2-3 hours) and the color settles around the edges of my lips. Lip liner look = no bueno. These also have a little glitter in them, and the glitter stays after the color has worn off. I haven’t worn glitter on my lips since middle school, so it’s not a look I want to revisit.
Now, I wont’ completely discount these. I actually apply lip products frequently throughout the day because (1) my lips get dry and (2) I drink a lot of coffee and/or water. (Those might be two excuses for my lip color commitment issues. Another topic for another day.)
Anyways. What I’m saying is that even though these don’t last long and leave glitter in their trail, I really love how smooth these are. And the colors are gorgeous!
Now, here are my faves. The matte balms!
Lately, I’ve been preferring matte lips because the color seems to last longer on my lips. These are amazing matte products! They don’t dry out your lips. Although, I do suggest exfoliating and moisturizing your lips before you apply them, because they will accentuate the dryness on my lips. This color lasts through coffee, drinks, and one meal for me. So, basically I have to reapply after lunch time (a good 5-6 hours). I am very happy with how long they last.
Of course, the colors are lovely. Revlon always does pretty lip colors. My favorite is Elusive. It always ends up in my purse, as it’s the perfect everyday color. Standout is gorgeous, too, and I featured it in my Valentine’s Day Red Lip video.
Another thing that I’ve been doing with these is mixing the two formulas! If I want to wear a deeper version of Elusive, I put Elusive on first and then put the lacquer balm Coquette over it. It bumps up the color a bit and gives it a nice sheen. I’ve combined other colors, too. It’s fun to play around with them!
Have you tried the Revlon Matte & Lacquer Balms? Any favorite colors?
