Nothing was thrifted (who am I becoming???)
Talk about your high-low outfits. Or, high-mid-low, as it were. I’m comin’ atcha with another Valentine’s Day outfit! I remembered to include red in an outfit at an appropriate time of the year. And none of it is thrifted.
Who am I and what am I doing here?
Okay, but really. I actually want to talk about these pants. These are the J. Crew Pixie Pants. I purchased them back in December when J. Crew had a 30% + free shipping coupon code. These pants have been on my little mental wish list for a while. For about .5 seconds, I thought “Should I get them?” Before I knew it, I had clicked ‘place order’ and I was $68 poorer.
These actually sat in my closet for a few weeks before I got up the guts to wear them. Honestly, I was afraid I would somehow ruin them or, worse, I wouldn’t really like them. Turns out, I love them.
Since I don’t care if people know what size I wear, I’ll let you know that I bought a 12 short. For informational purposes, I have a 31 inch waist and 41 inch hips. I’m 5’3″ and all my shortness is in my legs, which I didn’t realize until I bought these! These fit my waist and hips perfectly.
The length? Not so much. The short inseam for these is 28 inches. I have at least 2-3 inches tucked under so they hit my ankle at the right spot. I have always hemmed my own pants, but I’ve never sewn with ponte. Because of that, I will take these to a tailor at some point in the future. For now, I’ve been wearing them with boots so it doesn’t matter if the tuck is even or not.
As far as the price point, I wish they were cheaper. At the same time, I feel like they’re worth the $68 I paid for them. $98 (regular price)? Ehhh…. I don’t know. I’ve tried other ponte pants/legging-pant type things and these have definitely been the best so far, for me. The Target ones are more of my price point, but they looked really bad on me. They pants have a front seam that looks wonky on my legs. I haven’t tried the LOFT ones yet, which will probably be my next ponte pant purchase. LOFT pants fit me well, and with a coupon code they would be significantly cheaper than the Pixie Pants.
Despite the price, I am super, super happy with them. I’ve gotten over my fear of ruining them and wore them the whole time we were home during Snowmageddon 2014 (tmi?).
If you wear ponte pants, what are your faves? Even though I’m happy with these, I’m open to suggestions!
