I have been so excited about this post! I’ve partnered with Rimmel, via #CollectiveBias, to bring you an awesome Retro Glam makeup look! This is one of my favorite makeup looks to do, because it’s basically an excuse to go all out and get glammed up. I hope you love my #BeautyInspiration look!
I’ve used a couple new products from Rimmel, which are the Stay Matte Foundation and the Retro Glam Mascara. And what makes this all even better? I found both products at Wal-Mart, so you know I got a good deal on them. And if you thought it couldn’t get better than even that, there are coupons in this Sunday’s paper for both the foundation and mascara. Double yay!!
And without further adieu, we will get on with the tutorial!
First, we’ll start with our base. Use your Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation and Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer to create a flawless complexion. One of my favorite foundation tips: apply a layer all over your face, then go back and do a second layer on any portions of your face that need more coverage. The foundation is not as thick as concealer, so the finish will be so natural!
Add a flush to your cheeks with Rimmel Powder Blusher in Pink Sorbet. The blush will give you just enough color but won’t interfere with the lip color later on.
Base and blush done!
We’re going to keep the eyes neutral and flawless. I used the Rimmel Glam’Eyes Quad Eye Shadow Plaette in English Breakfast. I put the left shade (shade #1 in the diagram on the back of the palette) all over my lid. The right shade (#2) gets blended into the crease, and the bottom shade (#3) highlights the brow bone.
So, here is the beginning of the retro glam! Using the Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Liner in 100% Black, lightly line your upper lashes. We’ll thicken it later. Next, create a wing at the outer corner of your eye with three easy steps. First, draw one line from your lash line, angling up, extending it as far as you want. I did not go very far past my lash line, but feel free to make it as long as you need! Second, draw a triangle by connecting the outer end of that wing line to your lash line. Third, fill it in. Voila, you have a winged eye look! You can thicken up your lash line a bit more and fix any unevenness.
If you have any spaces between your lashes, fill them in with your Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Liner. I use brown, because it looks more natural with my lashes. Lastly, lighten your bottom waterline with either a white or a nude liner. In this tutorial, I used the Scandaleyes Liner in nude but feel free to go bolder with the white!
Next, the best cheap drugstore mascara! Rimmel’s Retro Glam is so volumizing, it really gives your lashes that extra oomph. If you’re looking for a cheap drugstore mascara, this is the way to go. In my opinion, it’s the best of their Scandaleyes mascaras that I’ve tried.
Now, to polish off this look (literally), we’re going glam with red lips and red nails. I used Rimmel’s Show Off Lip Lacquer in Big Bang. Here’s a tip for keeping your red lips looking great: line the outside of your lips with concealer to make the line look super smooth and perfect! Apply some gorgeous (and fast drying) 60 Second Nail Polish in Stand to Attention.
Here is the finished look. Hands down, this is one of my favorite makeup looks. It’s so easy and classy, and it goes with so many outfits! This would even be an awesome prom makeup look.
