My August Birchbox was so good! I was very happy with the size and quality of the samples in my box.
Laura Mercier Tone Perfecting Eye Gel Creme
It’s a good idea to give you skin a few weeks to get used to new skin care products, but I actually saw a difference under my eyes since I’ve been using this. It feels so hydrating the moment you apply it. My under eye area is usually dry, but I’ve also been sick this past week. So, that could account for the relief my skin felt with this. It promises to improve eye puffiness and dark circles. I have not been using it long enough to see those benefits. But, rest assured, I will be scraping this sample dry because it feels so good on my skin.
I was very excited to get this sample, because I’ve been wanting to try it for a while. This is a cheek and lip stain. I have not used it on my cheeks, because I am not great at blending cream or gel products on my cheeks. And I was worried that I would end up with a pink blob stain on my cheeks. I have been using it on my lips, and I really love the color. However, it clings to dry areas so you’ll want to exfoliate your lips well before using this. For being a stain, it did not last as long as I thought it would. I will definitely use up this sample, but I won’t have any plans on purchasing the full size products.
A few months ago (possibly last year ), I tried the amika nourishing mask and loved it. This dry shampoo is in the same scent, obliphica. With the nourshing mask, the scent was really nice. The dry shampoo smells so perfume-y to me, it’s over powering. The scent doesn’t last very long, but it is quite noticeable after you apply it. It makes my hair feel very fresh and fluffy, which I love. Since I get that same effect from the Bautiste and Klorane dry shampoos, I will stick with those. The obliphica scent is simply too strong in the dry shampoo for me.
This lotion is packed with moisturizers — olive oil, shea butter, and avocado oil. It feels so moisturizing and smooth on my skin, it’s been so nice to use on my legs. It’s free of chemicals that can potentially harm your body and comes in a package made of sustainable cardboard. The scent is hard to describe, but I would say it smells fresh and ever so slightly floral. At $24, it’s a tad expensive but lotion is one of those splurge items for me. I would definitely purchase this, if I felt like pampering myself.
Noir Cosmetics Long-Wear Eyeliner in Black
It seems that I get a black eyeliner almost every month. I really like this one, because it’s very creamy and easy to apply. It claims to be long-wearing, but I don’t think they tested it in our humid North Carolina climate! On our most humid day last week, this smudged onto my eyelid. Later in the week it was less humid, and the eyeliner didn’t budge. I don’t usually separate my eyeliners based on seasons, but this one will be a less-humid-weather eyeliner. All that aside, I really like it because it’s easy to apply and doesn’t dry out on my lid.
What did you get from Birchbox this month?
Linking up with Molly and Carly.
