I was provided with a coupon code to order Kiss Me Organics Organic Matcha Powder at no cost to me. All opinions are, and always will be, 100% my own.
I’ve been drinking matcha powder tea for well over a year. I had read about the different benefits of matcha powder, purchased some matcha powder tea bags and loved the taste. I have always said that if you like the taste of tea, you would love matcha powder. However, if you don’t like the taste of tea, matcha powder is still for you. You can add it into practically any recipe and reap the benefits of green tea.
Matcha powder is, basically, an amped up green tea. When you drink green tea, you are drinking brewed water. When you drink matcha powder tea, you are drinking the whole tea leaf. According to Kiss Me Organics, there is a 2003 study in the Journal of Chromatography A that found that matcha powder contains 137 times more antioxidants than green tea.
Health benefits aside, it smells and tastes wonderful. Today, I’m sharing two different drinks that I love to make with my matcha powder. I’ve been making breakfast smoothies for almost a year and recently started adding in matcha powder. So, that is one recipe that I’ve included. When I ordered the Kiss Me Organics Matcha Powder, they sent me a recipe guide for the powder. The first recipe that jumped out at me was the Matcha Green Tea Latte. Green tea and a latte? Sign me up!
Just to give you a look at the powder, here it is! It is extremely fine and blends easily without clumps.
My smoothie recipe contains half a banana, 1/2 cup of almond milk, 1 teaspoon of matcha powder, and a heaping 1/2 cup of mixed berries. I basically dump it all into my blender, put the top on, and blend away. If the smoothie is thick, I add a couple teaspoons of water.
When I’m driving to work (and drinking breakfast at the same time! multitasking!), I put it in a cup with a straw. But, my cup isn’t exactly picture worthy. 🙂 On this particular day, this smoothie was a late lunch/in-between-big-meals-snack. It was the perfect energy boost and the right amount to keep me full until dinner.
Next up, the Matcha Powder Tea Latte!
1. Measure out 1 teaspoon of the matcha powder.
2. Add in 1/4 cup of boiling water.
3. Whisk until frothy and (4) pour into a mug.
5. Add a little agave syrup for sweetness.
6. In a small sauce pan, warm 3/4 cup of almond milk. When it’s the perfect temperature for you, pour it over the matcha powder froth.
And there you go! It’s a wonderfully warm pick me up in the afternoon, or the comforting drink for starting the day. I drink hot drinks pretty much all day, so I can find any excuse to enjoy them at any time of the day.
Have you ever tried matcha powder? Is it a regular thing for you? I’d love to hear how you use it!
