My skincare is as close to natural as possible, but natural makeup is foreign to me. I have tried some mineral makeups in the past, but I know that the natural makeup world is vast and expanding. This year, I want to try more natural makeup brands. I am not sure where to start, so I have subscribed to Petit Vour.
Petit Vour is a monthly subscription service. For $15, you receive five natural, vegan, and cruelty-free cosmetic samples. I thought this would be a good way to get started with natural makeup.
Here is what I got in my first box!
February’s theme was mood-enhancing and confidence-boosting beauty products for Valentine’s Day.
Balanced Guru Scrub Me Body Scrub – 1 oz | 8 fl oz, $23
I love body scrubs. My skin gets dry very easily, and I try to keep the flakes at bay with exfoliation and high quality moisturizers. This natural scrub has a limited number of ingredients (and I can pronounce them all, yay). This contains raw sugar, organic coffee, coconut oil, babassu oil, cocoa butter, spearmint, and ginger. It smells SO good! I love the scent of coffee and mint, so this is a winner for me. I like that it exfoliates but it doesn’t hurt my skin. It’s gritty without being abrasive.
Ellovi Mint Chocolate Body Butter – .5 oz | 3.5 oz, $26
Mint chocolate smells so good to me. It also happens to be my favorite flavor of ice cream 🙂 This also has a limited number of ingredients (sensing a theme here?), and it has an oily feel that I love. It only has six ingredients! The ingredients come from macadamia nut, coconut, marula nut, hemp, and shea, and essential oils. And it smells amazing!
Harvey Prince Damask Rose & Gardenia Perfume – 1 ml x2 | 8.8 ml, $26
These are the only products I was disappointed in receiving. I don’t wear a lot of perfume, but I do love Harvey Prince scents. It is one of the few brands of perfumes that don’t make my husband sneeze. I do wish I’d receive only one perfume sample in my box, but they do smell lovely. I love the Damask Rose scent, as I love anything rose. Gardenia is also one of my favorite scents (and one of my favorite flowers!). The scent is a little powdery for me, but so I don’t see myself using it as much as the rose one.
Lily Lolo *New* Vegan Mascara | $20
This is the product I was most excited to try. My eyes are very sensitive, so I would like to try more natural mascaras. This one is a wet formula, and I think it will be perfect for me when it dries out a little. It’s very dark (love it!) and I don’t have to fuss with it for my lashes to look good. I think this is going to be a keeper!
Overall, I am happy with my first Petit Vour box. I look forward to my next one. I do hope to get more makeup items in my next box. My favorite product in this box is the mascara. It’s been my mascara of choice every day, and I might check out some more products from the Lily Lolo brand.
