I was sent the Nordic Beauty CC Cream for review. I have previously used the Neutrogena foundation in a collaboration. All opinions are mine alone.
Come spring, my face is bombarded with a variety of elements. The humidity is kicked up a notch, it’s raining so much I wonder if I’ve teleported to Seattle somehow, and I’m out in the sun more. Combine those factors with my combination/oily skin, the foundation situation on my face gets real messy, real fast.
I’ve gathered together a few of my favorite spring time bases at the moment. These each have a different finish, but they all last all day on me. I hope you find one that you like! Also, you’ll have to excuse my early morning face/hair situation. I took this pictures as I’ve been getting ready over the past few weeks. Just keeping’ it really real. 😉
I’ve been using this foundation since it came out, and I love it. The color is slightly yellow for my skin tone, which makes it a better warm-weather foundation for me (since I’m in the sun more). It lasts an entire work day on me. I rarely touch up my makeup during the day, mostly because I don’t need to but also because I don’t need to. In my opinion, Neutrogena is a little on the pricier side of drugstore foundations, but they’re totally worth it. This foundation is easy to blend. I use either my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, or I apply it wet with my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge. The latter is much faster in the morning.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation
To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this foundation when I bought it. I’m not a huge fan of a matte finish. It’s nice during the summer months, when my face looks dewey (re: greasy) by the afternoon. I feel like the matte finish prolongs the inevitable oiliness that is most of my face. This foundation has impressed me since the first time I wore it. It actually matches me very well, which is a surprise for a drugstore foundation. If I could classify my foundations as days of the week, this one is my Monday-Thursday and the Neutrogena is my casual Friday. The next one is Saturday and Sunday 🙂
Nordic Beauty CC Cream
I have long been a fan of CC creams. I was a bit skeptical of them at first. They seemed too good to be true — skin care plus makeup just makes me feel like I need to wash my face, you know? Like, it seems like it would be super heavy. Not so! This Nordic Beauty CC Cream has antiaging ingredients in it, along with SPF 30. This makes it perfect for the weekend, when we’re out in the sun a lot. It contains collagen and peptides. If you’ve been a reader here for a while, you’ll know that I love peptides in skin care. What they do is depuff and give you a natural glow. When I use peptides consistently, my skin looks less tired and refreshed. I love the natural finish, and I use a light dusting of loose powder to set it. This is a must for when we’re on the soccer fields on the weekends!
Now that I’ve shared my spring favorites, I’d love to hear about yours! Tell me what your favorite bases are for the spring.
