Last week, I finished a pretty good book 🙂 If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I started reading Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. This is the first part of a three-part series. I own the other two books in the series, which are Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After. I am currently reading the Lola book.
Anna and the French Kiss is set in … you guessed it, France! Anna has been sent away to live in Paris for her senior year of high school. This might sound like a dream to most people, but it’s torturous to Anna. Her father, who is a well-known author who sounds similar to real-life author Nicholas Sparks, sent here there so she could become cultured.
Anna actually makes a cool group of friends within her first few days and also meets a couple possible love interests. One boy is particularly kind to her, helping her order breakfast in french, etc. But Anna has one small problem to contend with … well, three, actually! Said boy has a girlfriend, plus Anna has left a possible boyfriend back home. And plus, the boy is super popular, yadda yadda … every girl wants him to be their boyfriend. High school drama ensues, but let’s be honest. It’s in France, so it’s chic drama.
I loved this book, and it’s a fun summer read. The perfect thing to take to the beach or read by the pool! (I need a pool…) Although the characters are a little wishy washy and sometimes ‘meh’ and stupid, I had to remind myself it was a book about high school students. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable and I am happy with the ending.
Like I said before, I am currently reading Lola and the Boy Next Door. Anna is in this book as well, but she’s not a main character. She’s a coworker of the main character (Lola), so you see the continuation of her story although she’s not in the forefront.
Okay, tell me! What are you going to read this summer?
