If your kids are anything like mine, they get so excited every time a new kid movie comes out. Their excitement is catching, and I can’t help but get caught up in it as well. The newest movie that has their attention is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows in theaters June 3rd. I thought it would be fun to make some turtle-themed lunches for them using Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties and State Fair® Mini Corn Dogs.
If you’ve never made a bento box lunch before, they are incredibly easy! You don’t have to have a special box, although it does help if you have something that is divided into smaller sections. To start, you will need your main items (in this case, the Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties and State Fair® Mini Corn Dogs), your veggie and fruit sides, some sliced cheese, and something to cut shapes out of the cheese. For this box, I chose the fruit and veggie sides to correspond to the eye mask colors of the Ninja Turtles. I used oranges, grapes, blueberries, and cherry tomatoes. You could certainly choose different sides in similar colors.
For the first box, I cooked the hamburger per the instructions on the package and assembled the patty and bun in the box. I placed the peeled orange pieces next to the hamburger. In the small section, I have purple grapes. To make the hamburger eye mask, I sliced the cheese diagonally to make the strip that goes across the hamburger bun. Out of that strip, I cut to eye shapes.
I took the two pieces from the eye shapes and placed them under the top hamburger bun to be the ties on the eye mask. I placed the cheese strip across the top of the bun. With the rest of the cheese, I used my star cutout to make some ‘ninja stars.’ I placed the stars across the purple grapes.
For the other bento box, I kept the hamburger and star cheese cutouts. I replaced the oranges with cherry tomatoes and blueberries and removed the purple grapes. I cooked the mini corn dogs per the instructions on the box and arranged them in the small section of the box. I tucked in some blueberries around the mini corn dogs. Then, I cut out small eyes from the cheese and placed them on each mini corn dog! The result was super cute, and I love it!
My boys are absolutely going to love these lunches. This is a super simple and easy solution for lunch or snack. I love that my kids will have protein for their growing minds and bodies! It’s so important for them to eat good at school, and these easy solutions make both me and the boys happy.
