Earlier this year, I tried a couple new skincare products from the Sunday Riley brand. Their Good Genes Treatment and Luna Sleeping Night Oil had been getting a ton of attention from the beauty community. After reading and watching a ton of rave reviews, I decided to try them for myself. During the Sephora VIB spring sale, I purchased their $78 Total Transformation Kit. The kit comes with a .5 ounce each of the treatment and the oil.
About two weeks in, my skin looked and felt amazing. It was clearer, softer, and more radiant. I featured the products in my May Beauty Favorites. At first, I had reserves about sharing them. They are very pricey. The full sized bottles are $105 each. Honestly, the only thing holding me back from buying the full size bottles was the price. I just wasn’t sure if it was worth it.
Around the end of June, I ran out of the Good Genes Treatment and was still using the Luna Sleeping Night Oil. I was pretty surprised them my skin started horribly breaking out. There were other factors that were contributing to my break outs. Things like sweat, stress, lack of sleep, and bad eating habits were also playing a part; however, the Good Genes Treatment had kept the majority of my break outs at bay. I decided after we moved and got settled I would purchased the Good Genes Treatment.
The way my skin feels and looks is worth the hefty price tag, in my opinion. I only recently ran out of the Luna Sleeping Night Oil and immediately bought the full size bottle, and I am very happy that I did.
In case you’ve never heard of these products, what they contain, and what they do for your skin, I will share my ‘cliff’s notes’ version. The Luna Sleeping Night Oil is a retinoid oil. It contains some essential oils, specifically blue tansy, and retinol. Blue Tansy is a redness reducer and the retinol stimulates the production of new cells. Since retinol can make your skin sensitive to the sun, I use SPF every single morning. The Good Genes Treatment is a lactic acid that reduces acne breakouts and prevents aging. Used together, they are an anti-aging powerhouse.
Since these products are so pricey, I am trying to use more affordable products in the rest of my skin care routine. I also use the very minimum amount of product so they will last as long as possible. I use three drops of the Luna Sleeping Night Oil and a small pump of the Good Genes Treatment. Those amounts are more than enough to cover my entire face.
Have you ever heard of Sunday Riley? These were my first foray into the brand and while I’d love to try more of their products, I don’t think my bank account wants me to. 😉
