This year, I have a goal of reading 40 books. I haven’t finished the first book yet, but it shouldn’t be hard to reach my goal. I started a new book at the beginning of the year, and it just got good. Funny thing is, I recently heard that before you start a book you should flip to page 69 and read a bit. If it interest you at that point, there’s a good chance that you’ll enjoy the book. I had already started my first book of the year by the time I heard that little trick. But!! The point where this book got good was right around page 70. How crazy is that? Before I start my next book, I am definitely going to try that little trick.
Even though I haven’t finished a book yet this year, I thought it’d be fun to share my current reads.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
This is my first book of the year. I’m about 25% through the book and it’s already good. In case you’ve never heard of this book (it’s actually the first in a trilogy), it’s a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ retelling. I love story of Beauty and the Beast, so this is bound to be good. I also have the sequel, which is A Court of Mist and Fury, and I also have the third book on pre-order.
I always have a lifestyle book or two around, if nothing then to just flip through randomly. A couple years ago, I read Joy’s first book Joyous Health. It really changed the way I see food and how it affects my body. This is her second book, and it’s all about detoxing. Honestly, I don’t agree with ‘detoxing’ all the time. To me, that’s what my liver is for. However, I do think that ‘detoxing’ has become resetting your eating habits and getting back on track. I’ve been thumbing through this book, which has been timely. I love starting the year off right by getting my eating habits back on track.
I was so excited when Fleur announced her second book. I have her first book, which is The Glam Guide. While her first book was more of an introduction into the world of beauty, The Luxe Life is like an older sister in book form. This has also been a nice, light read when I’m not in the mood to pick up something serious.
