Last week, we had the huge surprise of seeing all the cabinets in our house. We were meeting with the trim guy to go over what we want in the closets. When we got there, lo and behold, we had a kitchen! And a mud bench, laundry cabinets, a china cabinet, and all the bathroom cabinets! Now that we’ve finalized everything in the kitchen, I’m starting to gather some inspiration for how I want to decorate.
I think I’ve spoken about this before, but we will be going slowly room by room when we decorate. Since the kitchen is the easiest to decorate & the central hub of the house, we’ll be doing that room first.
There are a few things that I’ve already purchased. The curtain, bar stools, and rug have already been purchased. Since I had a coupon for Wayfair that was going to expire this month, I took advantage of that and ordered three bar stools and a runner. The runner rug in the kitchen is a new concept for me. I’ve always had a small rug in front of the sink. I just think that the runner will really make the kitchen feel cozy. The curtains are from Target and will let in light while still making the window feel ‘done.’ The flooring is going throughout all of our house. It’s rustic, and I absolutely love it.
My main focus for the kitchen is to keep everything bright, simple, and rustic. We’re going with a really simply grey and white color scheme with a large butcher block island. I will bring in color with accessories that I can switch out during the year, depending on the season and/or holiday.
