Recently, I was contacted by Jenn Bennett, who sells Rodan+Fields products. I’ve heard quite a lot over the years about RODAN + FIELDS. This is the first time I’ve ever tried any of their products, so I thought it’d be interesting to give a little first impressions for you!
Jenn sent me three products. Here, I have the ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste, the REDEFINE Night Renewing Serum, and the REDEFINE Lip Renewing Serum. The micro-dermabrasion paste is used in the morning, and the serums are used at night.
The serums are actually held in these little capsules, which was really interesting. I like that you don’t have to guess how much you need, because the exact amount you need is contained in the capsule.
The one reason that I’ve never tried RODAN + FIELDS is the price. Their skincare systems is very pricey. For example, the micro-dermabrasion paste is $80, the Night Renewing Serum is $91, and the Lip Renewing Serum is $56. With my experience, expensive skincare is generally worth it, and I’ve heard a lot of great things about this brand. So, let’s see how these work!
You can use the paste in one of two ways. You can either apply it dry to your face and massage it in; or, you can apply it wet. Applying it wet allows for a gentler exfoliation. I wasn’t sure how intense it would feel on my skin, so I opted to use it wet. It was okay. It would’ve been better dry, because there weren’t a lot of exfoliating granules in the paste. A more intense exfoliation would have felt better. Nevertheless, my skin did feel smoothed and refined after using it.
Next up, the Night Renewing Serum! I was really excited to try this because it contains peptides and retinol. Both are ingredients that my skin reacts very well with. The serum had more of a gel consistency to it, which I was not expecting.
It kind of felt like a silicone-based primer. That can give you an idea of how it feels. It made my skin feel so smooth and it looked mattified. The next morning, my skin did not look or feel any different. That was a little disappointing.
The last product I tried was the Lip Renewing Serum, and I was super excited to try this. This serum also contains peptides, along with Vitamin E. I have the driest lips imaginable, and I had high hopes for this serum. It felt oily but not greasy, and it glided on really nice. This is supposed to help your lips retain moisture, smooth lip texture, and reduce the visibility of fine lines. Sadly, it did none of the above for me. The next morning, my lips were very dry and cracked. I’m not sure why, but this product did not work for me at all.
Do you use RODAN + FIELDS? Let me know if you do! Also, I would love to thank Jenn for sending these products to me. I’ve always been curious about the brand and loved giving these a try.
