I don’t know about you, but I love a good party. Finger food is basically the best, and it’s even better when paired with wine and good friends. This weekend, I was trying out a couple new snacks to see how my husband would like them. I think it’s always best to try out the food you want to serve at a party first so you know if everything goes well together.
This spread had a little bit of a theme. Since I was using both of these very delicious Notable Chardonnays, I went with more savory flavors. Each wine is on a different end of the taste spectrum. One is fruity and crispy with citrus, melon, and peach notes. The other is oaky and buttery with butter, oak, and vanilla notes. It really is hard to choose which one I like best, because they both have notes that I love in a wine. With these two wines, there’s definitely something to please everyone.
And there was definitely a theme of cheese in our snacks. This spread went over really well, so I definitely had to share!
When I’m putting together a party or casual get-together, I like the food to be a combination of recipes I make from scratch along with ready-made items. To be honest, sometimes I get carried away with making everything from scratch. I’ve learned over the years that it’s definitely okay to use some ready made items to not only keep my stress level down.
For this particular spread, I have a very yummy salmon dip with pita crackers, cheese straws, a selection of cheese (sharp cheddar, colby pepper jack, and smoked gouda), and very easy bruschetta using a pre-made seasoned cheese.
To be honest, the easiest part of the whole planning process was choosing the wine. Since Notable includes the flavor notes on the label, it’s so convenient to decide on the chardonnay. Most wine labels will let you know where the wine came from, but they tell you nothing about the flavor. When a wine showcases the its taste on the label, it can lead you to the wine you want! This fruity and crisp chardonnay was absolutely perfect for this spread.
