One thing that I try to keep constant from week to week is my meal planning. If you’ve ever watch any of my planning videos or noticed the sidebar in my planner, our dinners are always notated for each day of the week. I live by my meal plan, because it keeps me organized and it serves double duty. My dinner meal plan spills into my lunch meal plan, because we always use dinner left overs for lunch the next day. I always love when something does double duty!
But, let’s face it. Some weeks are more hectic than others. Ideally, dinner is on the table before everyone is hangry, there are enough leftovers for lunch, and I always remember my refillable water bottle when I leave work. Sometimes what really happens is the kids have more homework than anticipated, we end up having breakfast for dinner (always delicious, but not for leftovers), and I’m left scrambling to find something for lunch the next day.
I am sure you can relate, which is why I always keep healthy options at the ready. There is an entire section of the freezer dedicated to my quick lunch solutions, along with a whole section of bottled water that I can grab as we head out the door in the morning. My go-to lunches are Healthy Choice® Power Bowls, because they are made with bold flavors and simple ingredients. Every power bowl is made with an intentional balance of vegetables, proteins, and whole grains to give me to fuel for my busy day. I love that they include antibiotic free chicken and all natural USDA choice beef.
Because if my day can’t have balance, at least my lunch can.
Along with my Healthy Choice® Power Bowl, I grab a couple bottles of smartwater to keep in my bag for the day. As far as water goes, I am very, very picky about how water tastes. I like it to taste clean and crisp. smartwater is vapor-distilled for purity with the right amount of electrolytes for a uniquely clean taste. It tastes so, so good to me. I also love the modern, minimalist packing. The top is hinged, so you never have to worry about losing a bottle cap. It also snaps closed tightly, so I can throw this in my bag and go with no worry of spillage.
Keep reading for my three tips for staying on track during the week!
First, keep your back up plan in plain sight. Life is already so hectic. If I don’t have the time to meal plan, then I definitely don’t have the time to dig around for another lunch option. If you don’t already have a spot cleared in your freezer, do that now! I keep this top drawer cleared for my Healthy Choice® Power Bowls, so they can easily be grabbed in the morning.
Second, designate one section of your fridge to beverages. It could be a spot on the shelf or a section of the door, or you could even buy a smaller container to put on a shelf. Whatever it is, make everything accessible so it’s easy to use!
Third, stay stocked up on your faves! Basically, work your back up plan into your meal plan. If you eat lunch at work four days out of the week, then make sure you have four lunches. I personally just keep the top drawer always stocked with Healthy Choice® Power Bowls, so there are always more than enough lunches for a week. You never what life will throw at you at the last minute, and with a back up plan you can always have a healthier option.
