Sunday night is one of my favorite time of the week. It’s the time when I slow down, pamper my skin, and pop on a face mask. Lately, I’ve been using a brand new magnet mask, and I am extremely excited to share it with you. This magnet mask is unlike anything I’ve ever used before, and it’s truly unique.
This is the Onyx Youth Magnet Mask. In case you’ve never heard of a magnet mask, it is essentially a mask that has some sort of magnet fiber in it that you pull off your skin with a magnet. I’ve tried one other magnet mask before and wasn’t really impressed. I was hoping the Onyx Youth would impress me, and my expectations were met 100%. I have some pictures below of what comes in the box.
I have an email response from the company confirming their cruelty free status. The magnet mask is made in Korea, and it’s a result of Korean skincare beauty trends and research that are proven to work. It is an incredibly powerful magnet mask, due to the iron-rich formula that lifts impurities and rejuvenates your skin. The main ingredients are volcanic ash, botanical oils, and magnetic fibers.
This is a 2 oz. bottle of the magnet mask.
This is, quite possibly, my favorite part of the entire process — the effector head covers! If you’ve ever tried a magnet mask before, you know how frustrating it is to remove the mask with a magnet. This set comes with a small box of plastic covers for the effector.
The two tools that are included are the effector, which is the magnetic piece that has a long handle, and a small spatula for applying the mask to your face. This is also the first time I’ve used a spatula to apply a magnet mask, and it was comfortable. The shape of the spatula makes it really easy to hold., and the smooth surface is easy to clean.
This is the jar opened up. You can see that it has an additional plastic piece that covers the magnet mask. This will keep it from drying out.
And, now I have pictures that demonstrate how to apply your magnet mask and remove it. I feel like I need to apologize for the lighting in the pictures. Our bathroom lets in a lot of light during the day, but I took these pictures during my real time pamper session on a Sunday night.
Using the spatula, smooth the magnet mask all over your face. Avoid the eye area. Let the mask sit for 5-10 minutes. It does not dry down similar to a clay mask. It will still look slightly shiny when you’re reading to remove it.
As far as the feel and scent, it feels so smooth on my face. It feels like my skin has been instantly hydrated. And in the midst of cold weather, that is wonderful! My skin has been extremely dry, and this mask has really helped it look healthier. The scent is very, very slightly floral. If you are put off by floral scents, this will not bother you. The scent is barely detectable and probably come from the botanical oils.
When you’re ready to remove the magnet mask, slip a cover on the effector. This will make the removal process so much easier!
Gently glide the effector over your skin and feel the mask lifting off your face. The thing that I was not expecting from this mask was the gorgeous glow that it gave my skin. After all of the magnet mask is removed, it leaves behind the botanical oils. It reminds me of an essence, except it doesn’t sink into the skin. You are supposed to massage the residue into your skin. No more moisturizer is needed.
You can see how well it removes the fibers!
Clean up is so easy. It took me a few tries to get it right. What you want to do is lift up the edge and pull the cover up and over the effector head. If you pull it straight off, the fibers will work their way to the edge of the cover and remain stuck to the effector. So, make sure to pull up the edge and lift it up and over the effector.
I was hoping the glow left on my skin would show up in the pictures, but it really did glow in person. This is me with absolutely no face makeup, no filter, etc. My skin looks amazing!
As I mentioned before, I did this magnet mask at night. You don’t add moisturizer after you’re done with the mask. There is enough residue to completely hydrate your skin for the night. My skin still looked wonderful the next morning, although the residue had absorbed into my skin by the time I woke up. The Onyx Youth Magnet Mask is just what my skin needs during these dry months.
I would also like to address the price point of this magnet mask. The price of the mask is $130. I am no stranger to high end skin care. My skin looks better for it, and that is simply what I like to focus my budget on. Price point is such a personal aspect of a review, and it’s all relative to your own budget and concerns. Although I received this for review, I will happily purchase this in the future.
