Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today is actually my first day back to work after a four-day snow weekend. What a weird way to start the year…
I love winter so much, it’s hard for me to imagine someone not enjoying the cold weather. However, after a frigidly cold weekend, it got me thinking about how some people must have hated all the snow and freezing temperatures. I’m very serious when I say that cold weather is my fave, and I thought it would be fun to share the things that make me feel super cozy during winter.
Hopefully this will help anyone who hates the cold weather. The winter blues sounds miserable, so maybe the things that make me feel cozy will help someone get you through this winter blues season.
Beating the Winter Blues – Take a Hot Bath
This is actually one tip that I, personally, have to work at making a priority. By the end of the day, taking a bath sounds like extra work. To be honest, I sleep so much better when I’ve taken a hot bath. I’ve been making it easier to take a bath by keeping all my bath essentials next to the tub. I have just a small collection of bath soaks, bubble baths, and bath bombs. They make taking a bath feel so cozy. Add in an inspiration book, and it is the ultimate ‘me’ time activity for the winter.
Beating the Winter Blues – Schedule Some Pamper Time
With the dry, dry winter air and the heat running nearly all the time, my skin really takes a beating. To combat the dryness, I have to stay on top of my game with exfoliation, moisturizers, serums, you name it. Sunday is the one day when it’s easy to squeeze in some pamper time. I don’t use all of these products at the same time, but they are definitely some of my favorites. Lately, I’ve been thinking about doing a #sundayselfcare post on Instagram to share what I’ve been using and loving. If that’s something that would interest you, definitely let me know.
Beating the Winter Blues – Keep Your Space Tidy & Let in Light
The winter season is all about combating my lazy tendencies. If I could sit around with a fluffy blanket, my slippers, and a good movie all weekend, I probably would. But the fact of the matter is, that’s not reality. Sure, we had a couple lazy days during our snow weekend. It’s so much easier and more enjoyable to be lazy when the house is clean and tidy. So, every day that we were home, I would take care of all the chores first before we snuggled up in front of the fire.
Beating the Winter Blues – Read a Good Book
My nightstand does not always look this tidy. In fact, there are usually a few more books than this. I tidied up my nightstand book selections just for this post. 😉 I have a lower shelf on this stand that is chock full of books, so this tiny stack is just a few that I hope to read soon. You don’t have to necessarily read a book to beat the winter blues. You could find a new blog to read, or pick up a cool magazine at the story. Relaxing and reading is such a good way to reconnect with the things that interest you.
Beating the Winter Blues – Make a Mug of Something Warm
This is really a no-brainer, and of course hot chocolate is one of my faves. But, there are so many yummy warm drinks that will help you get the cozy feels. When the winter weather is getting you down, just make a warm mug of cider or hot chocolate, or even a relaxing cup of tea. Sit down and relax for a bit and then you’ll feel immensely better!
How do you get rid of the winter blues?
