I am always late to the ‘essential game.’ Whenever I think to share my style essentials for a particular season, the season is nearly passed and then what’s the point? Well, I’ve been keeping track of all my favorite items from winter so I can share pieces that truly make my winter outfits feel special. Some of them are no brainers, like scarves, but I really have an extensive scarf collection (homemade and store bought). There are also a few items that I rarely wear in any other season, so I like to really enjoy them when the weather turns cold.
Scarves
Scarves are a major weakness for me. In fact, I finally bit the bullet and let go of a few. I don’t know what it is. scarves are just so fun. I really prefer large, blanket scarves, but I do have a few cowls and smaller scarves that are in full rotation around here.
Sweaters & Blazers
Just like scarves, sweaters are another weakness of me. Let’s be honest .. I just love everything related to winter. A few of these cardigans are from spring outfits, but they get worn year round! I love anything that makes me feel cozy.
Plaid
This is definitely a winter staple for me. Of course, it’s more of a casual print, but I do try to fit it into some work outfits, too. I am not a fan of lighter color palettes for plaid, as the darker color palettes really appeal to me. So, plaid is a must for winter!
Tunics
Over the past year, tunics have really taken over my wardrobe. I love how flowy they are, and they can be paired with a variety of pant silhouettes (although, I think they look best with skinny, ankle pants). Paired with a cardigan and a scarf, and this is a go-to outfit equation for me.
Booties
These booties have been in rotation so heavily, that I have plans to upgrade to some gorgeous leather options from Nisolo next year! I basically need a pair of black, brown, and taupe, and I am good to go. They are so comfy and, dare I say, even comfier than calf high boots? I am probably going to eat my words with that statement, but I have been wearing my booties way more than my boots this season.
