I am so excited to share a little bit of decorating progress with you. In case you’re new, my husband and I had our dream house built last year. We’ve been living in our new home since June 2017, and we couldn’t be happier. Now, we’re slowly decorating room by room. It’s been so much fun to find the perfect pieces for our home.
We decided to work on the kitchen and dining room first, because (1) there’s minimal furniture involved and (2) we want to entertain our friends and family in the best way possible. You can see our pantry and a little bit of the kitchen here. In the month of January, my goal for the house was to find and purchase table linens and serving dishes.
Well, there happened to be a really great sale on towels that I’d been waiting for, so I spent my budget on towels and mats for two bathrooms. I also found an amazing deal on wire basket storage for the kids’ winter accessories (hats, mittens, etc.). So, I’ve moved my goal of finding and purchasing table linens and serving dishes to February. When I came across the amazing towel sale, I also caught some curtains on sale as well. So, the rest of my budget went to those items.
We have two walls that are blank that are large enough to hang something on. We could definitely put something on the wall with the built in china cabinet, but I think it would look too busy. The walls in the following two pictures are the walls I’m going to hang something on. I thought it would look nice to have a painting on the first wall and a set of four vintage plates on the second wall. We’ll be visiting our local antique shop soon to look for a piece to put in the foyer, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for vintage plates as well.
