If you’ve been following along with my Friday post, today’s Foundation Friday should be no surprise to you. This week’s foundation is Flower Beauty’s Light Illusion Foundation. As a huge fan of Drew Barrymore, her makeup brand is one that I’ve been meaning to try for quite a while. Since spring & summer is the perfect time for dewy, radiant foundation, it was high time I gave this one a go!
THE CLAIMS
This foundation claims to be medium to buildable coverage that gives you smooth and perfect skin with a luminous glow. It also claims to have a weightless finish that evens out your skin tone. The formula claims to blend and match seamlessly & wears endlessly. It also has SPF 18.
Honestly, every single claim is 100% true. This is such a gorgeous foundation that has a wonderful glow. If I’m having a less than stellar skin day, this is an instant pick-me-up. I honestly can’t convey how gorgeous the foundation looks on my skin. Even though I have combination/oily skin and dewy foundations are not always good for oily skin, this one is perfect for me. With a little setting powder on my t-zone, I’m good to go and glowy all day (but not greasy).
I did wear this one day without powdering it and it was not pretty. I was practically a grease ball by lunch time, which was when I just had to powder it. So, a light dusting of my favorite setting powder in the morning is perfect for all day.
The color I selected is Porcelain L1. It is the lightest shade, and it has a warm undertone. Unfortunately, the undertone makes it look slightly too dark compared to my neck when I’m not wearing fake tan. However, just one layer of my favorite self tanner and it matches perfectly.
The shade range of this foundation is not ideal for all skintones. There are plenty of light and medium shades, but the darker shades are lacking. I hope that they will release even more shades in the future.
For shade comparisons, here are other foundations that also match me:

HOW TO APPLY
As with all my other foundation reviews, I tried this with a damp beauty blender and my favorite buffing brush. The beauty blender always makes my dewy foundations look a little bit heavy, so it was no surprise to me that my preferred method is the buffing brush. It’s smooths out the foundation so beautifully, and the application is very fast. I love this for mornings when I’m in a rush, because I can just apply it and go. It always looks amazing. On a good skin day, this is absolutely perfect.
I don’t think this does a good job of covering up any spots or healing acne scars. Since I am so fair, my acne spots look darker for a couple weeks after they’ve healed. I can apply a light second layer over my spots, but the coverage does not last all day. This is more a reflection of how all foundations sit on my spots and not the foundation. I just can’t find a concealer or foundation that covers up my spots all day.
MY REVIEW
This is a very good, affordable option ($14 for 1 ounce) from the drugstore. I ordered this from Ulta. I think this brand was previously available at Walmart, but I have not been able to find it at my local stores. It would be great if it was more readily available for me, but I’m also not a stranger to online orders. 🙂
The finish of this foundation is really what sold me on it. If I can look at my skin in the mirror at any point of the day & love the way it looks, then that is the foundation for me. The glow, the smooth finish, and the coverage are perfect for the spring and summer. I really crave a healthy glow with my foundation during these warmer months, and this one fits the bill.
Have you ever tried this foundation? I’d love to hear your thoughts about it!
