My first two battle series were drugstore brands, but today we’re taking a turn and looking at some products from Sephora. Since we’re still in the heat of summer, it’s the prime time (see what I did there…) to continue this series with high end face primers.
Today’s products are:
MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick
BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector
Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer
I chose these three specific primers because are geared towards a flawless, pore-reducing finish. Let’s get into them!
When this arrived in the mail, I was a little surprised at the color. I wasn’t sure it would match me! Somehow, it magically blends into my skin and it’s literally invisible. I say that it’s invisible, but a better word would be undetectable. My pores literally blur as I’m applying it. If all of MILK MAKEUP’s products are like this, I can see why they get so much attention online in the beauty community.
My makeup looks amazing all day long when I use this primer. I love that it’s weightless, there’s absolutely no scent, and it blurs my pores. Being that this is a brand sold at Sephora, you can imagine that the price is more than the drugstore. The size that I purchased is the mini size at .19 ounces. It costs $14. The standard size, which is 1 ounce, is $36. That’s quite pricey, but I do think this is an amazing product. Not only is it effective, but it’s also travel friendly. Also, I have been using this for about a month and have not needed to twist the product up yet, so I can imagine it will last a long time.
BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector
BECCA has long been a favorite brand of mine. I have tried their Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer, which is a liquid primer that gives your skin a glow. This Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector is a thick primer that makes your skin matte for 12 hours. To be honest, I was just as surprised with this one as I was with the MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick. Just like I thought the Blur Stick wouldn’t match my skin, I thought this Ever-Matte Primer would not blend onto my face.
I understand why it’s so thick, because it literally smooths over your pores and completely mattifies. This is not the type of primer you want to smooth all over your face, at least if you want to look natural. This targets your oily areas, so I use this in my t-zone. Aside from the application taking longer than I expected (as you have to really smooth it out with your fingers), this one also gets an A+ from me. My skin looked amazingly matte and my makeup stayed put even through all this heat.
This costs $15 for .40 ounce, which is the small size, and it costs $38 for 1.35 ounce standard size. This is the largest standard size of these three primers, and it’s also the most expensive.
Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer
This is a new-to-me brand, and the price instantly had me hooked. Right off the bat, let’s address the price because that’s the best thing about this primer. It costs $16 for 1.014 ounces, which means it’s easily the most affordable primer out of this bunch. This promises a smooth finish and perfected skin. Sadly, this did not work for me. It has a strong perfumed scent that bothered me the entire day i wore it. My skin looked nice, but nowhere near as nice as the MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick. I’m not sure if I will use this up, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do about it!
The winner of this battle round is, hands down, the MILK MAKEUP Blur Stick. The price, portability, ease of use, packaging, texture of the product, and effectiveness were all far above the other primers I’ve tried. For what it’s worth, it is in the top 5 of primers I’ve ever tried. I can highly recommend this product!
