Since we’re heading into the school year this month, I thought it’d be the perfect time to share some healthy snack ideas for kids. I love spending time in the kitchen cooking and making new recipes. However, when it comes to snack time, I need it to be simple and fast. We always have these snacks, or the ingredients to make them, on hand. If you need snack ideas for kids, check these out!
Fruit & Cheese (original post here)
Fruit and cheese has always been a hit with our kids. When they were younger, I would cut up the cheese for them into cute little stars. Last year, I found a set of mini cookie cutters in different shapes. Obviously, since the kids are older, they can cut out their own shapes. I also have a little set of skewers that are in really fun colors. When it’s snack time, we get all the supplies out with the fruit and cheese and let the kids go to town.
Yogurt and Granola Balls (original blog post here)
Another hit around our house is yogurt and granola. Personally, I love my granola mixed into my yogurt, but the kids really prefer it separate. Our fridge is stocked with Dannon Danimals literally at all times. The kids love them for breakfast or with lunch, and they are always a hit during snack time. About every two weeks, I make a huge batch of granola balls. Our kids love these so much. They’ve become so popular with any company we have over, so everyone always knows where to find them in the fridge.
Popsicles (original post here)
It couldn’t be snack time in the summer without popsicles! Like I said before, I love spending time in the kitchen and creating new recipes for my family. Sometimes, though, you just need something simple and easy. I keep our freezer stocked with a ton of frozen snacks, but I especially try to get healthier options so the kids are’t hyped up on sugar. Of course, there’s always room for a little sugar during the summer! We do love making our ice cream, etc., but it’s great to have healthy options readily available as well.
Thanks so much for reading this little round up! I’d love to hear about your kids’ favorite snacks.
