Last week, I shared five of our favorite family Halloween movies. We add one movie to our collection every year, and this year our movie is The Black Cauldron. It’s an older Disney movie from the 80s. We haven’t seen it before, so we’re really taking a chance with our Halloween movie this year! If you want to check out other movies we love, I wrote more about those here. Tonight it’s movie night (again)! It’s raining here, so it’s definitely the perfect opportunity to have a night in with the fam.
Towards the end of the summer, we had a little popcorn and movie party. I made a popcorn bar for the first time, and the kids really enjoyed it. You can’t go wrong with candy and popcorn!
One day, while we were in the Halloween aisles of Target, we saw these creepy, crawly gummies and instantly thought of making a Halloween version of the popcorn bar. How perfect is this? It’s such an easy way to get festive and have a family night.
This time, I actually popped our popcorn in our Whirly Pop. If you’ve never heard of a Whirly Pop, it’s basically a stove top popcorn popper. You add the kernels and oil, turn on your stove top, and crank the popper until all the corn is done popping. It’s way more convenient than it sounds, and it makes really good, fluffy popcorn. On this particular night we were using the Kernel Season’s Movie Theater Butter oil plus a little vegetable oil. You can also use the Kernel Season’s after it’s popped, as a buttery topping. Add a little salt, some creepy crawly candy, and you have a Halloween themed popcorn bowl!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Are you doing anything fun? Our town has a fright night, but we’ll be staying inside since it’s raining.
