Happy Monday, friends! Today’s post is all about my favorite tanning products. You know how simple I like to keep things — and this is my simplest routine yet. You don’t need a lot to keep a self tan over the summer (or any other time of the year). These are the best self tan products if you don’t have a lot of time, don’t like the scent of selftan, and don’t want all your clothes to be discolored.
Honestly, I’m not a fan of the self tan smell. Before I found these two best self tan products, I didn’t really tan much. I don’t use tanning beds and I don’t lay out in the sun, but I also didn’t like the way other self tan products discolored my clothes and made my skin smell weird. These have been my faves for the past 2 years! Today’s post is only about products that will tan your skin. If you want recommendations for self tan prep, find that here.

Coola Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Serum
First things first, you need a tan product that is specifically for your face. This one from Coola is the only one I trust, because it looks natural and it’s super easy to apply. It’s in a gel formula and sinks into the skin quickly, so you’re not waiting around for it to dry. You can apply it directly to your skin or mix it with your moisturizer. I do this at night and wake up with a natural glow. I highly recommend this!
St. Tropez Bronzing Water Mousse
This has been a game changer for me. Honestly, I would not tan regularly if I didn’t have this. This is a clear self tanner. If you’re new to self tan, most tanners are colored with a guide. The color shows you where you’ve applied it, so you can apply it evenly. The downside of the color guide is that it can transfer to your clothes, sheets, etc., if you’re not careful. This bronzing water mousse will not transfer to anything, because it’s clear. It does take some practice at applying, but I find it’s really easy to get an even color.
This bronzing water mousse also has a really great scent. Overnight, I do develop a little bit of a self tan scent but it’s nowhere near as strong as a conventional self tan product. In fact, I have some other self tan products in my bathroom that I find really hard to use due to that ‘self tan’ scent. This one is the best smelling product, by far!

If you’re new to tanning, you will need something to cover your hands when you apply the self tan. This St. Tropez taning mitt is really nice. I do prefer the Tarte mitt that is really soft and has more of a cloth texture to it. I’ve only been able to find it in a set. For now, this St. Tropez tanning mitt has been great.
