Over the course of 2020, lipstick has not been a priority. Given the fact that I’m often wearing a mask as they’re required in my office and in stores, I got tired of using stain remover to get lipstick off the inside of my mask. But, now that our schedule is somewhat normal, I have a few days a week when it’s totally fine to break out a fave lippie or two. Today’s post is all about the best fall lipsticks. Spoiler: they’re also affordable!

Last year, I tried the Honest Beauty makeup line for the first time. I was so impressed with the quality of the brand. This is the second makeup product I’ve purchased from the brand, and it’s the Honest Beauty Tinted Lip Balm in Lychee Fruit. It’s a pinky-neutral balm that gives you a sheerwash of color and lots of hydration. The subtle neutral color is perfect for those days you need a little color but don’t want a full-on lipstick.

Another new-to-me lipstick is Winky Lux! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked through the Winky Lux stand at Target and wondered if the products are actually good. Their brand image and packaging are so, so cute. I think I subconsciously write off cute packaging as products that aren’t high quality.
All that being said, I did try two lipsticks and loved the formulas. Here is the first one, which is the Winkly Lux Lip Velour Demi Matte Lipsticks in Pippy. The name of the lipstick literally describes how it feels. It has a velvety matte texture that isn’t drying. I picked the most neutral shade out of the range, Pippy, and love it!

For the next lipstick, I absolutely had to share a before and after of the lipstick tube. How cute is this? This line of lipsticks from Winky Lux have a cat face on the lipstick. This is Winky Lux Purrfect Pout Sheer Lipstick in Pawsh. The cat face obviously gone after the first swipe (hence, the ‘after’ picture). This has two shades of lipstick that blend together when you apply it. The formula is so smooth and it feels hydrating. It also gives your lips a little bit of a sheen, which is really pretty.

It wouldn’t be an affordable lipstick post without E.L.F.! I have long been a fan of E.L.F. Their entire brand is so affordable, and this line of lipsticks calledE.L.F. SRSLY Satin Lipstick is one I hadn’t tried. The color I have is Nectar. Again, I went with the most neutral shade since that’s what I like. This is the most full-on lipstick out the bunch, but it’s not heavy at all. I really like this, and you can’t beat it for $3.
You all know how much I love higher end makeup, so I had to throw in a couple that have been in the rotation.

First up, I have Too Faced Natural Nudes in Skinny Dippin’. This is a mauve color that is very cool-toned. A little goes a long way, as it’s pigmented. It has a slightly glossy texture to it, and it feels very smooth and creamy when I apply it.

Last, but certainly not least, is Tarte’s SEA Color Splash Lipstick in Salt Lyfe. This is another pretty cool-toned mauve. This one has a definitely purple undertone to it, and I love it for fall.
