A few years ago, we changed the way we shop for our kids’ Christmas presents. We love the Christmas season and, honestly, it’s super easy for us to go overboard with presents. We don’t buy a lot throughout the year, so this is the time of year when we buy things we want or need. I’m always looking for great kid gifts for Christmas, so today I’m sharing what we’re getting our kids for Christmas this year.
I must have seen this on Pinterest or somewhere online, but we gift our kids “something they need, something to read, something they want, something they need.” It not only keeps me from overbuying, but it’s also a variety of gifts.
WANT
For our kids’ want presents, my husband asked them individually what they want. The boys love video games, so they will be getting a game each. Our daughter will be getting accessories for her American Girl dolls.
NEED
Their need presents are a bigger than they usually are. They are each getting something for their room. Our oldest son needs a new dresser, so he picked one out. Our middle son needs a new bean bag for his room. He uses his everyday, and the cheap one we bought at Walmart has ripped. Our daughter needs a new desk, as she outgrew the previous one. I found a cute one on Amazon. We also got a chair to go with the desk.
WEAR
Initially, their wear present was going to be hand knit socks. Then, I stumbled upon an amazing Abercrombie & Fitch kids sale. It was buy 3, get 3 free on nearly all kids’ clothing. While I normally would get them one item each, I got them 2 each.
READ
For the kids’ read presents, I bought books in series they’re already reading. Our oldest is almost at the end of the Full Metal Alchemist manga series. Our middle son has already read the entire Bone series but wants all the paperback books. He initially read it on his kid Kindle reader. Our daughter loves Jojo Siwa, so she is getting the next three books in the chapter book series.
