I was hoping to have a book review for the newest installment of Rebecca Reads, but I will leave that for next week. Today, I want to share what I’m currently reading. Hopefully this will give me some motivation to finish these during Spring Break next week!

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
I can not remember, for the life of me, where I heard about this book. It must have been on Instagram. This is about a mom book club in Charleston that breaks off from a larger mom book club to read grittier books, like murder mysteries and non-fictions about true crime. The action is centered around Patricia and her friends, but mostly Patricia. Right around the time that Patricia voices that she’d love something to happen in their neighborhood, a strange man named James moves into Ann Savage’s house, who is a neighbor down the street. Mysterious things begin to happen not only in their neighborhood, but also in the surrounding areas. It has me on the edge of my seat and, honestly, was a bit gory at one part. I really can’t wait until I know how this ends. I’m reading this on my Kindle Paperwhite, and I borrowed the copy from my library via the Libby app.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
Ever since reading Big Little Lies back in 2014, I have been a huge fan of Liane Moriarty’s book. By the way, I completely forgot I was sent that book as part of Birchbox’s book club! What a flash back! I love a good suspense novel, and Liane Moriarty always delivers. What Alice Forgot is about a 39-year old mother of three who forgets the last decade of her life. How symbolic of motherhood! I have no doubt that I will be raving about this book, just like Apples Never Fall.

Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen
Friends, I can’t believe it has taken me years to read this book. It has been at least 4 years since I’ve started it. Honestly, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve had to backtrack to any part that I remember and restart. I am determined to finish it this month!
Happier Hour by Cassie Holmes (dnf)
I know this is a post about my current reads, but I wanted to throw this one in the mix as well. This is my first ‘did-not-finish’ of 2023. I love reading a time management book at the beginning of the year, but y’all… I have checked this book out 3 times trying to finish it. I just couldn’t get into it. I finally hung up the towel and gave up!
